17 more Filipinos abroad recover from COVID-19 — DFA


The Department of Foreign Affairs reported 17 new recoveries among overseas Filipinos infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Saturday, bringing the recovery count to 7,279.

There were also five new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), taking the total cases to 11,244. The death toll, however, remained at 817 as no new fatalities were reported.

Active cases are at 3,148. 

According to the Foreign Affairs department, the new cases and recoveries all came from the Asia and the Pacific, which has now 1,810 total cases with 1,291 recoveries, and nine deaths.

The DFA said that compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of recoveries saw a slight increase to 64.74 percent, those under treatment remaining at 28 percent, while the total percentage of COVID-19 cases slightly decreased to 7.27 percent.

Most of the recorded cases among nationals abroad are from the Middle East/Africa region with 7,380 cases. More than half of them or 4,542 have already recovered. The death toll in this region is at 532. A total of 2,306 are still under treatment.

The latest data also showed that Europe has 1,238 cases of infected Filipinos, 965 of them have already recovered from the disease. A total of 97 deaths were reported in this region.

The Americas have 816 cases with 481 recoveries, and 179 deaths.
