2 minors missing after being swept by flood water in Quezon


TAYABAS CITY, Quezon- Local rescue teams here are still searching for two minors who were swept away by raging flood water while their three companions survived after crossing a river in Barangay Ilayang Bukal here on Wednesday night.

Irish Deraman, 13, and Derick Cervantes, 9, remain missing even as the DRMMO Rescue Team, the Tayabas City Police, and the Bureau of Fire Protection have intensified their search and rescue operation.

Jayson Oñate, 8; Jaycee Oñate, 10; and Bea Berlin Nebrea, 10, survived.

According to the report, at around 6:32 p.m., the Tayabas City PNP received a call from 911 about a drowning incident in the said area through barangay chairwoman Veronica Laguartilla.

The police investigation revealed that the victims were crossing the river at the height of heavy rains and strong currents.
