The completed portion of the Ifugao Bypass Road is the 1.55-kilometer Lagawe-Lamut Section which aims to shorten travel time between the municipality of Lagawe and Lamut in the province.

According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, a total of P48.1 million funded the road construction and improvement project starting in Barangay Tungngod, Lagawe.

It involved the construction of a two-lane concrete road with provisions of drainage, slope protection, and road safety devices.

The secretary said it is part of a multiyear bypass road project that will reduce travel time between Lagawe and Lamut by traversing the mountainous slopes from Barangay Tungngod, Caba, Luta, Ponghal, Buyabuyan, Olilicon, and Tupaya, in Lagawe town, all the way to Barangay Hapid, Sanafe and Poblacion East in the municipality of Lamut.

“When fully completed, the bypass road project is seen to support agriculture of Ifugao, by providing a safer, faster route of rice farmers to bagsakan centers, considering that the province is one of the rice bowls of the Cordilleras,” Villar said.

Senior Undersecretary for Luzon Operations Rafael Yabut also said that the bypass road will also serve as an alternate route when Nueva Vizcaya-Ifugao-Mt. Province Road is not passable during road closures.
