Negros Occ., Cavite, Benguet top list of areas with highest COVID-19 new cases


The Philippines coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases hit past 373,000 after 1,524 new infections were confirmed on Tuesday, October 27, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The total number of cases in the country is now at 373,144. Of these, 37,489 are active cases,  wherein 82.8 percent are mild, 11 percent are asymptomatic, 2.2 percent are severe, and four percent are in critical condition.

The areas with the highest number of new cases were Negros Occidental with 115, Cavite with 76, Benguet with 72, Quezon City with 67, and Laguna with 65.

Meanwhile, 353 new patients have recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total to 328,602. The death count climbed to 7,053 with 14 new fatalities, the DOH noted. 

The  OCTA Research group of the University of the Philippines said that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila is expected to rise in the coming days due to the increase in passengers taking public transportation. 

In a televised briefing, President Duterte said that Metro Manila and six other areas will be under the general community quarantine from November 1 to 30.Negros Occ., Cavite, Benguet top list of areas with highest COVID-19 new cases
