HP remains positive in PH market


HP, one of the leading computer and printer brands globally, has maintained a positive outlook in the Philippines following strong demand due to work from home arrangements even as it strengthened its services to help in the students' remote learning program of the Department of Education.

 In an email interview, Christian Edmond Reyes, HPI Inc. Managing Director, said the company just delivered a better than expected quarter globally owing to PC and print now being more essential tools than ever for consumer and business success in this current environment.     

 In the Philippines specifically, Reyes said, “We maintain a positive outlook of a steady recovery and robust growth following work and learning from home trends despite retracted capabilities at traditional points of access due to the various quarantines.”

 “We are very optimistic of the business and are confident in addressing continued demand in essential services that we support including public services, healthcare and BPO,” he said.

As a PC brand, Reyes said that according to IDC data, HP accounts for 15.7 percent locally on quarter on quarter growth. The company has also retained its strength in the commercial segment with 27.2 percent market share in the Philippines.

Similarly, Reyes also see a positive trend in the print business, specifically in its continuous ink supply system (CISS) printers with +8.4 percent growing share and even stronger demand for Ink Tanks.

“These results came from a spike in demand for work from home (WFH) and learn from home (LFH) devices and services in the Philippines as well as a surge of demand from the BPO segment as office workers moved to remote working environments during this period of time,” said Reyes.

Reyes said that HP continued to provide a range of high-performing and secure PC and print innovation and services designed to meet the current needs and demands of the new normal.

HP has strengthened its services along with the big shift in remote learning and greater need for home and educational printing, especially with the lack of access to a full digital set-up. "Through printing, learning modules can be reproduced and distributed to thousands of students across the country,” he said.

During this pandemic, Reyes said, HP has provided  over P2 million in monetary donations (from HP Foundation) as well as donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other medical supplies to hospitals, businesses and local communities.
