Zamora signed City Ordinance No. 79, Series of 2020 for the implementation of the new curfew hours in the city, saying that it will take effect starting Monday.

Among those exempted from the curfew are health workers and on-duty frontline personnel, including employees of the government and private establishments.

Also exempted are drivers of public utility vehicles allowed to operate under the current community quarantine status, delivery services of prime commodities, and those with emergency reasons.

“Pinirmahan ko na po ang ordinansa patungkol dito at ito po ay ipapatupad na simula ngayong araw (I have already signed the ordinance for the new curfew hours, and this will be implemented starting today ),” the mayor said.

The Metro Manila Council (MMC), composed of 17 mayors in the metropolis, has recommended on Sunday night to shorten the curfew hours in the National Capital Region (NCR), except in Navotas City, from the current 10 p.m.-5 a.m. to 12 a.m.-4 a.m.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jose Arturo Garcia said the shorter curfew hours seek to boost the economy and recover from the ill-effects brought about by the pandemic.
