Number of COVID-19 cases in Davao region surpasses 4,000-mark


DAVAO CITY - The total number of cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) recorded in Davao region surpassed the 4,000-mark after 51 additional cases were reported on Sunday.

Based on the Regional Situation Update on COVID-19 in Davao Region, the Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD) reported 36 new cases from Davao City, 10 from Davao del Norte, two each from Davao de Oro and Davao del Sur, and one from Davao Oriental.

Davao region has so far recorded a total of 4,037 COVID-19 cases.

The DOH also recorded six deaths in Davao City on Sunday, bringing to 141 the total number of deaths due to COVID-19.

On Saturday four deaths were also recorded. The oldest was a 73-year-old woman from Barangay 5-A here. The patient was admitted on October 15th and died on the same day.

Meanwhile, 34 recoveries were reported on Sunday.

The DOH said 27 of these were from Davao City and seven from Davao Oriental. Davao region has a total of 3,097 recoveries.
