Five PH teams join P2.4M Garena Free Fire tournament

Five Filipino teams will carry the flag in the $50,000 (over P2.4 million) Garena Free Fire Tri-Nation Cup grand finals slated on Sunday, October 18. 

HardToGet, Bloody Head, Absolute Verdict Elite, AXA Dream Team and Supreme Assault Forces will duke it out against seven other teams from Malaysia. 

Six matches are set in the finale that fires off at 1 p.m. 

The grand champion of the 12-team tourney will get the $15,000 (over P720,000) prize and a spot in the Free Fire Continental Series 2020 set on November 21 to 29. 

The runner-up and third-placer will take $7,000 and $4,000, respectively, along with a seat in the Continental Series play-ins. 

The five PH squads advanced to the finals of the Tri-Nation Cup after dominating the 18-team league circuit held from September 12 to October 4. 

HardToGet cruised to the top with 787 points and bagged the $2,000 (over P97,000) league winner's prize. 

Bloody Head finished seventh and copped $800 with 505 points; AV Elite wound up eighth with 502 points ($800); AXA landed on 11th with 432 points ($600); and Supreme Assault Forces ended up 12th with 431 points ($500). 

The Tri-Nation open qualifiers were held online in the Philippines, Malaysia and Cambodia with 648 slots.
