45 new COVID-19 cases registered in Caraga region


BUTUAN CITY - Forty-five new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region, bringing the number of active cases to 686.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin released by the Department of Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD), 19 new cases were recorded in Surigao City, eleven in Butuan City, nine in Surigao del Norte, two in Agusan del Sur, one in Agusan del Norte, one in Surigao del Sur, one in Cabadbaran City, and one in Bislig City.

The region now has a total of 2,035 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Four deaths were also reported. Caraga region has recorded a total of 84 deaths and 1,265 recoveries.

According to the medical status of patients, the DOH-CHD said four have severe symptoms, 23 have mild symptoms, and 18 are asymptomatic.

Among the latest cases, 34 were local transmission, three had close contacts with previously confirmed cases, three are health care workers, three have no history of travel to an area with known local transmission or exposure to COVID-19, one is a frontliner, and one has a travel history to an area with COVID-19 cases.

Among those infected, 22 were female, 23 male, with the youngest at 28 years old, and the oldest, at 80 years old.
