1st statue of teen, Blessed Carlo Acutis, in PH blessed


The first statue of Italian teen Blessed Carlo Acutis in the Philippines was blessed on Saturday, Oct, 10, in Laguna.

Veronikon films shared the pictures of the blessing of the image in their Facebook page.

According to the FB post, the image was sculpted by Mr. Felman Limlengco Bagalso of Paete, Laguna and is under the care of the Aquino Family of Moncada, Tarlac.

In an interview, Nenett Bagalso, the wife of Felman, shared the story behind the image.

She said her husband started doing the 3-foot wooden image in February after the announcement of Acutis' beatification.

Nenett said a seminarian studying in Italy requested her husband to do the image.

"The seminarian is studying in Italy and he is from Tarlac," she said.

Nenett also said that the creation of the image was guided by the Association of the Friends of Carlo Acutis in Italy and Antonia, the mother of Carlo.

At present, she said, a priest from Batanes has also asked her husband to make two images of Acutis.

Acutis, a young computer programmer who died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15 was beatified on October 10, 2020, in Assisi in the Basilica of St. Francis.
