Google Arts and Culture app releases 3D-modelled AR filters

WE ARE ART Some of the filters available in the Google Arts and Culture app

With technology getting better and better at doing what it does, it has also become easier for humankind to learn new knowledge and develop skills. This has especially become more evident with online learning these days, when everyone is encouraged to stay at home because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

To make sure that technology also flows into learning art, Google has launched five educational and fun 3D-modelled augmented reality filters on its Google Arts and Culture app. These are based on iconic artworks and historical artifacts from all over the world.

Users can now snap a video or image of themselves to become Van Gogh or Frida Kahlo in their self-portraits, or transform into Vermeer’s famous Girl with a Pearl Earring. They can also step deep into history with a traditional samurai helmet or an ancient Egyptian necklace.

Each filter has been crafted carefully so that netizens can explore the artifacts in high-quality detail from every angle. History and context are available for every filter to make the experience as educational as possible..

Google Arts & Culture app is available for free both for Android or iOS. To get started, tap the rainbow camera icon at the bottom of the homepage.
