PANGASINAN – An 18-year-old, who just gave birth, tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in San Fabian town here.
The patient was reportedly brought to the hospital after experiencing labor pains, and later had normal delivery of her baby.
But according to the local government, when the hospital conducted a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test on her, she was found to be infected with the virus.
Family members were surprised to find out that she was positive for COVID-19 because she had no travel history, and was careful in making sure that she followed health and safety protocols.
She was the 20th COVID-19 case in San Fabian.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna De Guzman said Friday that the mother was already recovering at an isolation facility, while the baby was in good condition.
