P47.6M worth of shabu seized in Batangas buy-bust, 4 arrested


Police seized more than P47 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust on Wednesday that also led to the arrest of four suspected drug pushers in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

Col. Rex Arvin Malimban, director of the Batangas Police Provincial Police, said the operation stemmed from confirmed intelligence reports and surveillance of the illegal drugs activities of a local group operating in Batangas and nearby areas.

Arrested were Joey Mordes, Lanze Esquivel, Angelo Morales, and John Paul Muyco.

He said the buy-bust was conducted in a parking lot of an establishment in Sto. Tomas, Batangas at around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Seized were around seven kilos of shabu, the boodle money used by the police in the operation, and a car.

Malimban said the estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is at P47.6 million.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act No. 9165 are being readied against the suspects while investigation is being conducted to identify the source of the large volume of shabu.
