Jinino Manansala as new UST head coach?

Jinino Manansala is being eyed to fill in the post of former University of Santo Tomas coach Aldin Ayo.

According to multiple reports, Manansala is expected to continue the Tigers’ program after it crumbled due to the infamous Sorsogon training bubble.

Manansala, however, was no stranger to the team as he was previously one of Ayo’s assistants along with McJour Luib.

He, Luib and Ayo resigned from their post following the training bubble controversy, but Manansala reportedly applied for head coaching position.

Luib, for his part, is reportedly being named as coach of the Tiger Cubs.

Apart from being one of Ayo’s deputies, Manansala also guided St. Clare to four straight titles in NAASCU.

He also played for UST under the late coach Aric Del Rosario in 1999 to 2003.

Curiously, the development surfaced a day after UST endorsed Ayo’s appeal for reconsideration of his indefinite ban from the UAAP.

UST is in rebuilding process after players departed in the middle of the controversy that included former skipper CJ Cansino, Mark Nonoy, Rhenz Abando, Ira Bataller, Jun Asuncion, Deo Cuajao and Brent Paraiso.
