'Crash Landing on You' star Hyun Bin thanks fans for birthday greetings, donations


Korean actor Hyun Bin, star of the hit K-dramas “Crash Landing on You” and “My Name Is Kim Sam-soon,” thanked fans for greeting him on his birthday and making donations.

Hyun Bin celebrated his 38th (39th in Korea) birthday on Sept. 25 and to mark the occasion, his global fan club, The Space,” donated 39.25 million won ($33,909 or P1.64 million) to Save the Children Korea, an international non-government organization helping children around the world. 39.25 refers to Hyun Bin’s age and birth date.

In a video message posted by his agency VAST Entertainment, Hyun Bin expressed his gratitude to his fans.

"Thank you for celebrating my birthday in various ways. I was wondering how I could thank everyone for your precious support, so I decided to greet you with a video message," he said, according to SBS News.

Hyun Bin added that "I celebrated my birthday happier than anyone else, thanks to many fans not only in Korea but all around the world―sending me birthday messages through a variety of unique methods, making meaningful donations, and sending over congratulations to my agency."

He also revealed that he has finished shooting the movie “Bargaining,” aka “Negotiation.” Hyun Bin flew to Jordan on July 13 on a chartered flight together with co-stars Hwang Jung-min and Kang Ki-young to film the movie for two months.

“Bargaining” is about the rescue of Koreans abducted in the Middle East. Hyun Bin plays the role of an agent of Korea’s National Intelligence Service.

After wrapping up the filming, Hyun Bin flew back to South Korea on Sept. 12 and underwent self-quarantine for two weeks as required by the government for all incoming foreign and Korean travellers due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. He completed the self-quarantine late last month.

"I will continue to work harder so that I can become someone who spreads warmth and happiness to all, just like the warmth you sent me. I hope that you are all staying healthy in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I will see you around. I love you all," he added in the video.
