2 college students nabbed with 1.4 kilos of marijuana in Candelaria, Quezon


CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City- Almost 1.5 kilos of dried marijuana were seized from three arrested suspects, including two college students, in Sitio Bololoy, Barangay Masin Sur, on Sunday, October 4, in Candelaria town.

Quezon Police Provincial Office (PPO) Director Col. Audie Madrideo identified the suspects as Vincent Caringal Cantos, and John Loyd Cueto De Guzman, both 21 years old and college students, 21, and their cohort John Carlo Prudente Macatangay, 25. They were all residents of Candelaria.

Madrideo said in his report that joint teams of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 4A-Quezon, and Candelaria Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Capt. Reynaldo  Dalumpienes, launched a buy-bust operation in Sitio Uno, Barangay Marin Sur.

Cantos and De Guzman were the first ones to be arrested after a confidential informant was able to buy from them a rolled-up garbage bag containing dried marijuana leaves.

In a follow-up operation also on Sunday morning, Macatangay was arrested in another buy-bust operation in Sitio Bololoy in the same barangay.

Police operatives confiscated from the suspects a total of 1.493 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated amount to P179,160, and a motorcycle.
