Drug suspect killed, P20.4-million shabu seized in Zamboanga del Sur


ZAMBOANGA CITY – A notorious drug dealer in Zamboanga del Sur was killed, while three kilos of shabu worth P20.4 million were seized from him, in an anti-illegal drugs operation late Thursday afternoon, October 1.

A belated report released Friday, October 2, at the Police Regional Office for Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) said that police Special Operation Unit 9 (PNP–DEG) in Margosatubig town in Zamboanga del Sur conducted the buy-bust operation in Barangay Digon, Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur at about 4:20 pm, Thursday.

PRO-9 Director Police Brig Gen Jesus D Cambay Jr. said the buy-bust operation was conducted by the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP–DEG),  led by Police Lt. Col. John Francis Encinareal, together with policemen from the Margosatubig Municipal Police Station

According to Cambay, alleged drug dealer Mansor Mangoda was killed in the anti-illegal drugs operation.

He said the suspect was transacting with an undercover policeman when he pulled out his .45-caliber pistol, and engaged the lawmen in a shootout.

Mangoda died on-the-spot from several gunshot wounds he suffered during the heavy exchange of gunfire, according to Cambay.

He was brought to the Margosatubig Regional Hospital, but was declared dead on-arrival by the attending physician.

Cambay said Mangoda was a known drug dealer in Margosatubig, and in adjacent towns in  Zamboanga del Sur.
