Olongapo logs highest single-day COVID-19 recoveries

OLONGAPO CITY – Forty-one residents in this city have recovered from the coronavirus disease  (COVID-19) Wednesday, the highest single-day recoveries recorded so far.

This was revealed by the city’s COVID-19 Task Force adding that the total number of recoveries is now at 331.

Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr, task force chief, said the increase in recoveries has brought down the city's active cases to 208, or a recovery rate of about 37 percent based on the recorded 562 confirmed total infections.

"We expect more recoveries and I urge everyone to pray for the full recovery of all COVID-19 patients,'' he said.

The task force, meanwhile, disclosed that 27 new cases were reported in the city that included three members of the Olongapo City Police Office and five employees of the Bureau of Quarantine in Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. The other new cases include health care workers from both public and private institutions.

Paulino assured that the City Health Office has conducted contact tracing of the persons in close contact with the patients.

The mayor also reminded residents "to observe strict compliance with health protocols to prevent the disease from spreading and infect those who are vulnerable, especially the elderly and those with comorbidities."

He urged them to maintain the use of face masks and face shields, frequent handwashing and sanitation, and observance of safe physical distancing.
