A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur on Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The earthquake, which occurred at 6:10 a.m., was tectonic in origin and was traced 63 kilometers northeast of Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.
The quake had a depth of 15 km. and was felt with a maximum intensity of Intensity IV or "moderately strong shaking" in the town of Bayabas.
Phivolcs also recorded Instrumental Intensity I in Surigao City.
The state volcanology agency said the quake was an aftershock of the September 21, 2020 magnitude-5.7 Bayabas, Surigao Del Sur earthquake.
No damage and aftershocks are expected from the tremor.
