Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on newly appointed Army chief Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana at the Philippine Army headquarters in Taguig City.
Robredo said she visited Sobejana to congratulate his appointment as the new PA commanding general.
During their meeting, Robredo said she also took the opportunity to thank the organization for helping her office on its COVID-19 response operations.
“Over the past few months, the men and women of the Philippine Army have been assisting us in delivering PPEs and medical supplies all over the country,” she said in a Facebook post.
The vice president also mentioned the assistance rendered by military personnel in the construction of temporary houses for medical frontliners under the Oasis Project.
Robredo’s office has built these shelters at the Lung Center of the Philippines, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, and National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).
The opposition leader also commended the Philippine Army in its efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
“Most of all, I am grateful for their service to our nation, especially as we face the challenges of our times,” she said.
Sobejana, for his part, presented a token to Robredo to mark her visit.
