Two more from House test COVID-positive; total now 82

A congressional consultant and another member of Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s staff were the latest in the list of House of Representatives officials and personnel to test posItive for COVID 19.

The total number of infected individuals connected with the Lower House has reached 82, including eight House members.

As gathered from several reports of the Office of the Secretary General, most of those who caught COVID 19 were infected outside the premises of chamber.

At least 12 of them are still active cases.

“A confirmed case - a consultant of a District Representative - was reported today. She last went to HRep on September 2,” said the OSG report.

It added: “She was exposed to her husband (not a HRep employee) who tested positive earlier.”

Earlier, an employee of the Speaker’s Office became infected.  She had herself tested after experiencing dry and itchy throat.

The OSG said that the speaker’s staff reported for work on September 21-23.  She was the second from the office to be infected.

The first was another female employee who reported for work from September 14 to 18.

“She got tested after experiencing body weakness, headache, colds, and loss of smell and taste,” the report said.

Contact tracing is ongoing,” the OSG said.
