Councilor, cohorts nabbed with P6.8-million shabu in Marawi City


COTABATO CITY- Anti-narcotics operatives arrested last Wednesday a incumbent municipal of Lanao del Sur and three other cohorts, including two former town councilors, who yielded a kilogram of shabu in an entrapment operation in Marawi City.

Juvenal Azurin regional chief of the Philippine Dug Enforment Agency (PDEA) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), identified the suspects as Impanor Salic, incumbent municipal councillor of Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur, fomer town councillors Malik Hadjisalik and Esnaira Capal and Rodrigo Sequino.  

He said PDEA agents, backed by policemen and soldiers, arrested the suspects during a drug bust along the national highway in Barangay Matampay, Marawi City.

The suspects yielded one kilogram of methamphetamine hydrochloride worth P6.8 million and a sports utility vehicle.

Authorities tagged the suspects as members of local drug network operating in Lanao del Sur.

Azurin said the suspects, who were listed as high-value drug suspects, have been under surveillance for the past months prior to their arrest.

Charges for selling illegal were filed against the suspects who were detained at the PDEA detention facility here.
