6 new COVID-19 cases reported in Cabanatuan


CABANATUAN CITY (PNA) – A two-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were among the eight new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in this city, which has logged a total of 217 infections as of Thursday.

A report from the City Health Office (CHO) showed the girl was from the village of Sta. Arcadia, and she was reported to be asymptomatic, and had no history of travel.

She was swabbed on September 14, and the result came out on September 17, the report showed.

Her relative, a 32-year-old female private employee, also tested positive on the same date.

The 12-year-old boy from Barangay Quezon District, on the other hand, was examined after he complained of fever, sore throat, and loss of taste.

He also did not have any travel history, but had close contact with a positive patient, the report said.

The other new coronavirus patients were a 62-year-old male construction worker and a 46-year-old man from Barangay Bantug Norte; a 53-year-old businesswoman from Barangay Barrera, a 62-year-old female government employee from Quezon District, and a 47-year-old male vendor from Barangay Isla.

Of the 217 total confirmed cases in this bustling Nueva Ecija city, 172 have recovered, 39 are active and six have died.

Barangays Aduas Norte and Caalibangbangan have the highest number of active COVID-19 cases with five each, followed by Quezon District with four.

Bantug Norte and Sta. Arcadia have three active cases each while Bangad, Barrera, Cruz Roja, Kalikid Sur, and Magsaysay Norte have two each, and one each in Camp Tinio, Caridad, Daan Sarile, Dimasalang, DS Garcia, Imelda, Isla, Mabini Extension and Pagas.

This city has 89 barangays.

The city government reiterated its appeal to the public to faithfully observe public health standards against COVID-19.
