Called the RuralSync Project, it will determine the use of various wireless technologies based on TV broadcast signals in updating educational electronic materials and other multimedia content in remote areas.

DoST said that is also in line with the directive of President Duterte for the DoST to explore various means to support online learning particularly in areas with low Internet connectivity.

Ongoing development is a RuralSync receiver prototype which is a low-cost Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (ISDB-T) receiver which can be plugged in single board computer or computer to receive digital TV signals (video and audio) and embedded files and data.
