VP Robredo's net worth rises to P3.5 M in 2019

The net worth of Vice President Leni Robredo increased for the second straight year, her latest Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) showed.

Robredo declared a net worth of P3.5 million in her SALN for 2019, a copy of which was obtained by Manila Bulletin from her office.

This was higher by P1.2 million than her net worth of P2.3 million at the end of 2018. She posted back-to-back year growth in her wealth since she took office in 2016.

Last year, the rise in Robredo’s net worth was because of the increase in the amount of her cash on hand, which rose to P8.576 million from P7.351 million in 2018.

Robredo’s SALN showed her assets totaled P15.439 million, with her real properties worth P1.735 million and personal properties at P5.128 million.

The value of the vice president’s personal properties remained unchanged such as furniture, appliances, and other equipment at P1.5 million, jewelry at P100,000, and prepaid insurance worth P655,000.

These also included her two vehicles - a 2010 Toyota Innova worth P1.123 million and a 2014 Toyota Grandia valued at P1.75 million.

Robredo also declared eight real properties in her hometown of Naga City. These included a residential house as well as agricultural, orchard, residential, and memorial lots.

The memorial lot and one residential lot had no acquisition cost. The memorial lot was listed as a “donation.”

At the same time, she reported having shares of stock in Meralco amounting to P95,000 and liabilities totaling P11.9 million based on her latest SALN.

Robredo listed the same payable loans to the estates of Marcelina Robredo at P1 million and Jose Robredo at P2 million. The others were Jose Robredo Jr., P1.15 million; Jocelyn Austria, P2 million; Salvacion Gerona, P750,000; Pablito Chua, P1 million; Vicente Hao Chin, Jr., P2 million; and Rafael Bundoc, P2 million.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) sent Manila Bulletin a copy of Robredo’s 2019 SALN even as the Office of the Ombudsman released new guidelines limiting public access to SALNs.

Ombudsman Samuel Martires signed Memorandum Circular No. 1 in accordance with the implementing rules and regulations
of Republic Act No. 6713, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
