PBA commissioner Willie Marcial is set to meet player representatives from all 12 teams on Wednesday to discuss the bubble concept the league plans to implement for next month’s possible resumption of the season.
Marcial said the meeting will be an opportunity for him to hear what sentiments and suggestions the players want to share on the eve of another meeting by the PBA Board of Governors.
The governors are expected to finalize on Thursday which of the three sites it had shortlisted will be selected for the proposed bubble. Other fine details to be determined are the schedule and format of the season.
“Sila (players) yung maaapektuhan kaya kailangan kong makausap yung mga players,” Marcial said in Monday’s episode of Sports Page.
The players meeting will be similar to the one held last June 23 when Marcial got a commitment from the team representatives who attended to participate in training sessions under strict health protocols.
One player has already expressed his approval on whatever type of bubble the league will implement.
“It’s one way for us to give entertainment sa mga Pinoy,” said Rain or Shine’s Beau Belga. “Kasi we’ve been through a lot these past months and kailangan ng konting magpapasaya.”
Providing entertainment at the soonest possible time may still depend on the government’s willingness to allow the games to resume.
Cabinet secretary Karlo Nograles said over the weekend that the government still has reservations allowing pro leagues like the PBA to proceed with the training scrimmages.
Pro leagues are still limited to workouts under strict health protocols.
