Television studios recently opened and I joined a celebrity contest hosted by Paolo Ballesteros who was dolled up as Barby Ghorl and Wally Bayola, all made up as Bebe Ghorl.
The "Bawal Na Game Show" features stars that are good in following rules, which, honestly, felt like mission impossible for moi.
Imagine not moving when an animal, which felt like a rat (our eyes were closed) was running through your arms. The rule: Bawal ang gumalaw.
Another task was to balance a sand bag in your head while doing "strutty" positions. The rule: Bawal malaglag ang sandbag.
The experience was crazy but a lot of fun. During the show, hosts Wally and Paolo asked me, John Sweet Lapus, Dennis Padilla and Wilma Doesn’t about our "pasaway" moments or those specific times when we did not follow the rules:
Dennis Padilla
Comedian and movie actor Dennis Padilla recalled his pasaway moments in high school.
“There was a billiards place near school. So near that you just had to jump over a fence. So that was what we did, we cut classes, jumped over the fence and played billiards.”
I asked the astig comedian: How we can solve such a problem for students?
He answered, “Make billiards part of P.E.! Problem solved! Billiards is a sport anyway.”
Wilma Doesn’t
Supermodel and TV host Wilma Doesn’t related, “I only own one car and when there is a taping or a shoot, there are moments when an MMDA officer would pull me over, particularly due to color-coding. The only way I can resolve that problem is to pay the penalty fee and hopefully when I get to save up, buy myself a new car.”
John 'Sweet' Lapus
The ace comedian shared, “As a smoker, there are many bawal manigarilyo moments with me. I used to be very hard-headed. But I now realize that we should follow rules and do our part in helping the Philippines. Following rules will also save you jail time (laughs)!”
Moi
My pasaway moment is a classic. I was the host of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in one of his rallies. It was when he was endorsing senators. One of his people told me that I was not allowed to go to the bathroom while the president is talking because he might end his speech early and I was there so the program will appear seamless. It was a hot day and my call time was very early so I filled my bladder with too much water. When he arrived and was speaking on the microphone, I felt the urge to go to the bathroom. I looked at the protocol officer who understood my body language and he nodded left to right twice indicating, “No Giselle. This is the president of the Philippines you are hosting for. Hold you bladder!”
And I did. But after an hour the president was still on a roll. I looked at the protocol officer and she dilated her eyes at me as though she was saying, “Try to pull off something and you will never get to host for the President again.”
So I stayed my ground even if my knees were shaking and my baldder was about to explode. I kept on thinking – mind over bladder! Two hours have passed and the president seemed to be in a very good mood talking to the people of Bulacan who listened with all gusto.
Suddenly, the protocol officer took a phone call. This is it! My chance to leave my station to relieve myself. And I did! I ran as fast as I could, emptied my bladder and went back to my station. She just ended her call and when she looked at me I was there at my station. She smiled at me. I don’t know if she saw me leave but I was happy because now I know I can host for PRRD without wetting my pants. That would be gross!
"Bawal Na Game Show" airs on TV 5, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30 pm and Saturdays, at 7 pm.
