10,314 Filipinos abroad infected with Coronavirus

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday reported a spike in the numbers of both the new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases and new recoveries, citing delays in reporting the cases due to privacy laws in effect in one territory in Asia and the Pacific region.

In its latest tally, the DFA noted 133 more new confirmed cases and 121 more recoveries with the total number of cases among Filipinos overseas now at 10,314.

“The reported rise in numbers is due to delays in reporting owing to privacy laws in one territory located in Asia and the Pacific,” the department said.

Of the total, 2,988 are undergoing treatment, 6,554 have recovered or have been discharged from the hospitals, and 772 died of COVID-19 infections.

The Middle East still leads in the total number of confirmed cases among overseas Filipinos with 7,017; Asia and the Pacific, 1,320; Europe, 1,172 and the Americas, 805.
