No new fatalities reported in 76 countries with Pinoy COVID-19 patients


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday reported six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) infections and eight new recoveries among Filipinos abroad.

In a report, the DFA said the new confirmed cases and new recoveries were recorded in Asia and the Pacific and European regions. 

No reports of new fatalities were received from any of the Philippine foreign service posts worldwide. 

The latest report from Europe also raises the number of countries with Filipino COVID-19 patients to 76.

As of September 11, 2020, the total number of COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos is 10,168. Of the total, 6,421 have recovered, 2,979 are undergoing treatment and 768 died due to infections. 

By region, the Middle East remains the area with the most number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos (7,002), followed by Asia and the Pacific (1,194), Europe (1,169), and the Americas (803). 

Notwithstanding the challenges posed by the global pandemic, the DFA assured that its personnel in foreign service posts will remain steadfast in partnering with local health authorities and agencies in ensuring adherence of Filipinos abroad to preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.
