The number of workers in the private sector that have been displaced since January further increased.
The latest Job Displacement Monitoring Report of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) on Monday revealed the latest tally of 190,024 displaced workers nationwide from 10,177 establishments from January to present.
This was up from 180,207 last August 31.
Of the more than 10,000 establishments, 9,100 reduced workforce while 1,077 reported permanent closure.
The report said the 1,077 firms that reported permanent closure displaced a total of 19,085 workers while the 9,100 companies that retrenched workers affected 170,939 employees.
The National Capital Region registered the most number of displaced workers in the country with 94,736 followed by CALABARZON with 35,908.
The number of displaced workers in other areas are: Central Luzon with 19,872; Central Visayas with 13,459; Cordillera Administrative Region with 5,503; Davao Region with 3,953; Western Visayas with 3,370; Northern Mindanao with 3,280; Ilocos Region with 2,699; Soccsksargen with 1,595;Eastern Visayas with 1,375; Cagayan Valley with 1,323; Bicol Region with 1,206; Caraga with 850; MIMAROPA with 752; and Zamboanga Peninsula with 144.
Most of the displaced workers were from administrative and support service with 41,560 followed by the manufacturing sector with 25,621.
The data also revealed that 3,140,651 workers have also been adversely affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic after 111,298 establishments implemented flexible work arrangements and temporary closure from March to September.
The 29,357 establishments that implemented FWAs affected 1,256,391workers while the 83,837 firms that temporarily closed affected 2,014,650 workers.
