According to PCG Commandant Admiral George V. Ursabia Jr., the Hagonoy Lighthouse, which is located at the mouth of the Hagonoy River in Bulacan, was declared restored to normal operations effective on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The reopening was witnessed by Hagonoy, Bulacan Councilor Kenneth Bautista.

For years, many have also pushed for the rehabilitation of the lighthouse as some accounts said fisherfolk use it as a landmark for them to know if they have already reached the Bulacan area.

The residents of Isla Pugad in Bulacan are proud of the Hagonoy Lighthouse because the facility benefits local fisherfolk.

Lighthouses in general are considered an effective navigational aid, which are vital to fishermen and mariners, as they guide them to safely navigate the rivers and seas, especially at night.
