The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday, September 4, reported 18 new confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among Filipinos abroad with no new fatalities recorded across the main geographic regions.

With the new cases recorded in Asia and the Pacific and Europe included, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipino nationals abroad is now 10,113.

It clarified that two previously confirmed cases in Asia and the Pacific were deducted from the latest figures upon verification made by the Post.

Of the total, there are now 3,081 Filipinos who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals and health facilities abroad while 6,275 have recovered from the disease.

To date, 757 Filipinos have already died due to COVID-19 infections since the outbreak of the pandemic began in February this year.

Meanwhile, 361 Filipinos were repatriated from Beirut on Thursday night, the second batch of returnees since the twin explosions rocked the Lebanese capital last month.

On the same day, the DFA also assisted the smooth and orderly return of 180 Filipinos who were directly affected by the economic impact of the pandemic in Macau SAR.
