The Manila Police District (MPD) activated Police Station 12 or the Delpan Police Station and Police Station 13 or the Baseco Police Station at the Quirino Grandstand.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, who attended the event, said the two new police stations were established to better control Delpan and Baseco, that are said to be crime-infested areas.

“Iyong Baseco ay matagal nang napapabalita at nabalita na challenging area. Kinuha ng mga talipandas na criminal ang pagkakataon ng kahinaan ng mahihirap nating kababayan (Baseco has long been reported as a challenging area. The criminals took the opportunity of the weaknesses of our poor fellow Mañilenos). They took the opportunity of the situation to govern among themselves in the particular community,” he said in his speech.

“You will govern the most challenging community in our city. Naniniwala ako kaya kayo nasa MPD, kayo ay mapagmalasakit, tapat, at makatwirang magpapatupad ng kaayusan, kapayapaan, at kapanatagan ng bawat Batang Baseco, Batang Isla Puting Bato, at Batang Parola (I believe that you are in MPD because you are compassionate, honest, and reasonable in implementing order, peace, and stability for each person in Baseco, Isla Puting Bato, and Parola),” he added.

The local chief executive directed the members of the two new police stations to rid their areas of responsibility of crime.

“Hayaan natin na ang mga susunod na bata lumaking kahit mahirap, ay maaliwalas at panatag ang pamumuhay sa (Let us allow the next generation of children to grow up with a decent and stable way of life, despite being poor, in the) west side of the city,” he said.

Domagoso also warned the police officers that they should not abuse their firearms and use them for their own interest.
