The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) continued filing tax evasion charges against suspected tax cheats amid the Coronavirus-19 pandemic.
Just yesterday, the BIR filed with the Department of Justice separate complaints against 10 corporations based in Makati City, this, after filing similar charges against 10 businesses in Manila the other day.
Makati Revenue Regional Director Maridur Rosario identified the respondents as Digiline, Marathon Publishing, Ideaworks, N & N Construction, Infrontier Philippines, Alliance Technologies, Goldmark Service Network, Medcore Pharma, Corporate Image Dimensions and Systems Standards.
Top officers of the said companies including the president and treasurer were also included in the charge sheets.
Rosario said she recommended to higher authorities the filing of tax evasion charges against the accused for allegedly ignoring strings of assessment and collection notices to settle tax debts totalling to P123 million.
The tax liabilities covering mostly income and value-added taxes were incurred in 2014 and prior years.
BIR Deputy Commissioner for Operations Arnel Guballa said their Run-After-Tax-Evaders campaign will continue without let-up as part of their efforts of hitting this year's collection target of P1.7 trillion.
