CEBU CITY – Seeing Boholanos not leaving the province to seek greener pastures has been the dream of Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado.

The governor’s dream is nearing realization with an ambitious project set to commence as he led the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Bohol Business Park at the old Tagbilaran City Airport on Wednesday, May 15.

The business hub is expected to generate 3,000 jobs for the people of Bohol.

“I yearn for the day when a Boholano does not have to leave home to seek out a decent, good-paying job outside the province,” Aumentado said.

Aumentado sees the project as something that can improve the quality of life of every Boholano.

“With this project, I truly hope that we can now offer a better quality of life and brighter future ahead to every individual and family here in our dear home, a place called Bohol, the ‘heart of the Philippine islands,’” Aumentado said.

Once the project is completed, the province can accommodate more BPO companies.

“We have dreamed of this moment for many years. Now, a new dawn has come and we will finally see the efforts of so many to establish a new economic hub that will showcase our aspirations to become a smart, resilient, and inclusive province,” the governor added.

Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte said the Bohol Business Park is the beginning of a dream and aspirations for Bohol.

“This all started with a dream and aspiration, which led us to our grand vision of a Bohol Business Park in the heart of Tagbilaran City,” Caberte said.

Caberte thanked the city government of Tagbilaran led by Mayor Jane Yap for supporting the project.

Aumentado was joined by Vice Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite along with Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Jamie Villamor and Lucille Lagunay.

Representatives from Sagility Philippines, Innercore Construction and Realty Development Corp., the Management Executive Board, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Atlantic Erectors Inc. Engineering and Construction, the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives from the ICT Council also attended the event.

Kenneth Obis, Director for Business Development of Innercore Construction and Realty Development Corp., said the project will unlock the province’s full potential.

“Today, we not only dream but set concrete goals to ensure our success. Innercore Construction and Realty Development Corp., in partnership with Sagility, leads this journey towards prosperity.”

Fed delos Lado, Sagility vice president for operations, expressed his excitement to start operations in Bohol.

Delos Lado said he is thankful that a local government unit like Bohol is giving importance to developing an area in terms of IT infrastructure.

“The governor is really a good ambassador of the province, making the entire Bohol province different from others,” Delos Lado said.
