TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Thirteen buses caught fire in the impounding area of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Regional Office in Carig Sur.
Investigator on case P/Staff Seargent Ruben Fernando Jr said that it was around 9:30 p.m on Tuesday that the buses started to catch fire.
Duty security guard Domingo Callangan Jr. said he smelled burning plastic as he was conducting roving inspection in the area just before he noticed that some of the buses in the impounding area were on fire.
Firefighters quickly proceeded to the area, and declared the fire under control at around 10:20 p.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was still conducting investigation on whether the fire was an act of arson, or that it was just ignited by a discarded cigarette butt.
The buses were all in the impounding area for violation of different LTFRB policies, according to the police.
