Philippines’ top junior netter Alex Eala outshone her foreign rivals to capture the XXXII Circuit Illes Baleats Toni Nadal Heliocare Tournament in Mallorca, Spain.
The world No. 4 routed Matilda Mutavdzic of Great Britain 4-0, 4-1 in her first tournament post-quarantine.
Prior to her final victory, she blanked Sofia Neri 4-0, 4-0 and third seed Isabella Righi 4-0, 4-0 both from Italy.
Eala and her brother, Miko, have been training at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy and looking forward to competing in future events when tennis tournaments open up in European countries.
She is using her recent stint as springboard to her return to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit next month.
The 15-year-old Eala, who won the 2020 Australian Open doubles title with Indonesian partner Priska Nugroho, is scheduled to compete in the ITF Grade 2 and Grade 1 tournaments in Hungry from Sept. 7 to 14.
She will also compete in the French Open rescheduled in October.
