PNP records 15th COVID-19 fatality


The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded its 15th Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) fatality following the death of a 52-year old male cop assigned in Mindanao.

Identified simply as patient 3139, he died on August 20 following complications brought by the coronavirus infection.

According to PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, patient 3139 was assigned to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

Banac said 55 more policemen were added on the list of police personnel who have COVID-19, raising the PNP tally to 3,153 with 2,283 having already recovered.

On the other hand, Banac said they continuously monitor 2,546 suspected cases of COVID-19 and 751 probable cases. All of them are now on quarantine pending test results.

The PNP has set up its own testing center at Camp Crame in Quezon City. They are also planning on setting up similar testing centers in Cebu and Davao City.
