Manila International Book Fair to push through online


The Manila International Book Fair (MIBF), one of the biggest and longest running fairs in the country, is going online on November 24-30 as large gatherings are still prohibited amid coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat.

"You spoke, we listened. This year, the Manila International Book Fair is coming to you," MIBF wrote on Facebook on Saturday (August 15).

MIBF is one of the most sought-after book fairs in the country with over 150,000 visitors yearly in its five-day run. Its 41st edition was originally slated on September 16-20 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.

The book fair is the prime venue and events of printed and digital content industry as well as allied industries such as stationery and other multimedia publishing.

MIBF provides an avenue for local and foreign publishers, distributors, booksellers, agents, authors, and talents to exchange ideas and collaborate.

Meanwhile, the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP) is set to hold "Aklatan," the firtst all-Filipino online book fair on August 16 to 18 via online marketplace Shopee.
