In a live broadcast on Wednesday, Manila City Engineer Armand Andres said the two-storey coffee shop built by the Manila city government is fully air-conditioned and has a "world-class" comfort room.

The Department of Engineering and Public Works said the coffee shop's contemporary design is inspired by the different types of architecture seen in the city.

Local coffee will take the spotlight in the new café, Andres said.

"With our city being the melting pot of culture in the country, our coffee shop offers the same experience by having various types of coffee and delicacies throughout the country," the DEPW said in a statement.

The view from the coffee shop also showcases the redeveloped Andres Bonifacio Monument, it added.

One of Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso's first projects after assuming his post was to aggressively clean the area surrounding the Andres Bonifacio Monument near city hall with frequent flushing and clearing operations.

He also beautified the once dimly-lit park by hanging capiz lanterns on trees, planted more greens and installing a musical dancing fountain in front of the Bonifacio monument.

Andres said the public will have to wait a little longer for the coffee shop's official opening before coming to visit.
