9,816 Filipinos abroad infected by coronavirus --DFA


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday recorded a “modest spike” in the number of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases among Filipinos abroad after it received reports of 42 confirmed cases, 13 new fatalities and 12 new recoveries from the Asia Pacific and the Middle East regions. 
 
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections among overseas Filipinos to 9,816.
 
Of the total, 5,802 have recovered, 3,293 are live cases, and 721 have died due to coronavirus.
 
To date, Middle East/Africa remains as the combined regions with the biggest number of COVID-19 cases involving Filipino nationals at 6,874, followed by Europe with 1,143; Asia-Pacific with 1,015, and the Americas with 784. 
 
The total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains at 72.
