Makilala posts 1st COVID-19 case


DAVAO CITY - The municipality of Makilala in North Cotabato province has recorded its first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case on Saturday, August 8.

Based on the Soccsksargen Region Situation Report for COVID-19, the patient was a female nurse from Makilala, who works in Davao del Sur province.

According to the report, the patient was exposed to a confirmed positive case in Davao del Sur last July 27.

The patient is asymptomatic and is in a stable condition while being isolated in a hospital in Davao del Sur.

The municipal government in its Facebook said: "The record was broken but still there is hope."

"Keep safe po kababayan and always follow the basic health protocols na pinapatupad ng pamahalaan (First COVID-19 positive case in Makilala, Keep safe everyone and always follow the basic health protocols implemented by the government)," the municipal government.

As of 6 p.m. on Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) Soccsksargen Region has recorded a total of 321 confirmed cases in the region after five additional cases were recorded.

Three of the latest cases were locally stranded individuals (LSI), who arrived in North Cotabato between July 15 and July 28. Two of them were LSIs from Manila and the other one was from Paranaque.

Another patient was a 47-year-old from South Cotabato province whose history of exposure is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, four additional recoveries, all from General Santos City, were recorded by the DOH on Saturday. The region currently has a total of 188 recovered cases and 129 still active cases. As to COVID-19 related deaths, the region has recorded three fatalities.
