Ex-Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim contracts COVID-19

Former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim is confined at a hospital after contracting the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).

The former mayor, now 90 years old, was admitted at a government hospital. His condition is being closely monitored by doctors.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said he is saddened by the news and that he is keeping Lim in his prayers.

"We wish him a speedy recovery," he said in a phone call with the Manila Bulletin.

"He was the mayor of Manila for 12 years, he also did a lot of things during his time," he added.

Lim served as mayor of the capital city twice: from 1992 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2013. He also served as a senator from 2004 to 2007.
