Vehicles with no official business to attend to inside Intramuros, Manila will not be allowed entry following the transition of the National Capital Region (NCR) back to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
In a public advisory, the Intramuros Administration announced that beginning August 4 until August 18, pass through vehicles are temporarily banned in the Walled City as the management imposes traffic and mobility rules in the interest of public safety.
Entry points for government employees working under skeleton workforce will also be limited, as follows:
· Employees of the Department and Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) may use Gate 11 (located at General Luna corner Muralla Street)
· PAG-IBIG employees may use Postigo pedestrian gate
· Employees of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA)/Commission on Elections (COMELEC)/Bureau of Treasury/Presidential Anti-Graft Commission/Intramuros Administration may use Gate 3 (General Luna corner Postigo)
Only Gates 3 and 11 will be accessible to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, which means that drivers and passengers entering the following gates will be subjected to thermal scanning. Guards on duty will also require the presentation of identification cards (IDs) and certificate of employment as proof prior to entry.
All other gates will remain closed, according to the management.
Meanwhile, residents will be required to present quarantine passes when going out of their homes in line with the existing MECQ guidelines.
Tourist destinations, including private museums will also remain closed, including the Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church which will not accept devotees and churchgoers in the meantime.
