Here are today’s featured readers and their photos.
Photography hobbyist Sairenz Sky shares an untitled photo of a boy sitting on the beach as fishermen set their fishing net in the background. “These are the local fishermen of Lingayen preparing their net for catching fish,” writes Sairenz. “Early in the morning, they are already on the shore setting their fishing net. One to two men must stay on the shore to hold the rope to be pulled once the fishing net traps a lot of fish.” Photo was taken in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Kriem-Hill Benedick Siruno who is an electrical engineer by profession sent in the photo titled “Priceless Smile.” He took the photo while on a photowalk in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.
From Mark Kelvin Castro, a street photographer based in Bulacan is an untitled photo of a beach scene. He shares: “This photo was taken in Long Beach, Cavite City during a photowalk by Facebook group SWPH. I saw a group of people doing stunts and flipping back and forth. I saw the potential of the scene so I waited and I clicked every time there was someone running to flip. Then this man showed up and jumped but instead of flipping he just faked his flip and raised both middle fingers as a joke.”
Angelo Rosales, a second year BS-Tourism Management student from the National University submitted the photo, “Through the End.” He took the photo of the breakwater behind the PICC complex last May 2019 as summer was ending.
The photo, “Comfort Zone” comes from Aries B. Españo who works in government. He shares: “My photo titled ‘Comfort Zone’ reminds me that you can find comfort in unexpected places. This was shot using a mobile phone. I am currently exploring street photography as it sparks my creativity.”
John Carlo Bagas Avelida contributed the photo titled “Father and Son.” His photo description reads: “Kung sa iba, ang baha ay kawalan ng pag-asa, sa kanila ito ay isang biyaya na kung saan nakakaipon sila ng pera upang makakain at mabili ang mga kailangan nila. Bagama’t nababasa sila sa ulan at sa baha, hindi sila tumitigil upang makaahon sa hirap.”
From Jomarie Romaquin is the photo, “Innocent Devotion” taken during the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival 2020.
Laarnie Remolano Cabardo, a freelance photographer and a mom of three adorable kids sent in an untitled photo of a fisherman standing on his banca early morning. “Photo was taken in my hometown of Mayondon, Los Baños, Laguna,” writes Laarnie. “Manong is getting ready for his journey in the lake hoping for a good catch that he could bring to his family. Laguna Lake is one of the largest lakes in the Philippines and is one of the main sources of fresh fish and livelihood for the community living nearby.”
“Aplaya,” the silhouette photo of a father guiding his young daughter over the rocky shore is from Marvyn Dela Cruz of Cavite City.
And from Ryan Eduard Benaid is “Bayanihan sa Gitna ng Debosyon,” a photo from the procession of the Black Nazarene in front of San Sebastian Church in Manila while doing the traditional “Dungaw.” Ryan writes that the devotees helped in carrying to safety a woman devotee who fainted in the middle of the crowd.
