PPA further extends approval, issuance of permits amid quarantine

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has further extended on Thursday the validity of approval and issuance of accreditation of permits and other authorizations amid the community quarantine.

The agency said it is in view of the strict implementation of the work-from-home arrangement at the PPA head office starting July 16 until August 7, affecting the processing applications for the issuance of accreditations.

Under the Memorandum Circular no. 30-2020 signed and issued on Thursday, July 30, the PPA has extended until August 31 all the hold over authority to operate cargo handling services that expired or expiring during the community quarantine periods.

“All pending applications for accreditation and Permit to Operate (PTO) received by PPA/Port Management Offices prior to or after March 15, 2020 are likewise approved for the purpose of doing business in the ports under PPA’s jurisdiction valid until end August,” the agency said.

The PPA said the order also extended until the end of August all other permits, certificates, and authorizations issued by the agency which are expiring on Friday, July 31.

“The PPA advised concerned parties to file their application for extension or renewal on or before 31 August 2020 to avoid the imposition of fines, charges and/or penalties,” it added.
