The donations were received by Lieutenant General Franco Nemecio Gacal, AFP Inspector General, from Colonel Josel Zuniga, the Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to Cambodia, in a turnover ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Thursday.

General Felimon Santos Jr., AFP Chief of Staff, thanked the RCAF for the machines, which, he said, can be used to disinfect and sanitize areas prone to contamination.

“Through the leadership of your Commander-in-Chief General Vhong Pisen, this noble endeavor of yours extends beyond boundaries, and will be treasured by the AFP as we further strengthen our military cooperation between our nations,” said Santos in a message delivered by Gacal.

Camp Aguinaldo is regularly undergoing disinfection to prevent the spread of virus in the military’s general headquarters (AFP-GHQ).

On Thursday, the operations center of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the warehouse of the Office of Civil Defense which are located in the AFP-GHQ were placed under lockdown for disinfection after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

Last July 15, the main building of the Department of National Defense (DND) was also placed under lockdown after a staff member got infected.

More than 370 AFP personnel have since beens struck by the viral disease, and the military leadership has noted an “upward trend” in the number of infections within their organization.
