TAYTAY, Rizal- As more new confirmed COVID-19 cases, including a 7-year old boy, were added to the tally in this municipality, the mayor is in favor of extending the community quarantine status in this municipality beyond July 31.
Mayor George Ricardo Gacula II told Manila Bulletin on Thursday (July 30) that if the figures continue to rise, he believes that the general community quarantine (GCQ) status should be extended in Taytay.
“The number of cases is not decreasing. Hopefully, if the number would be reduced to a half on the average,” Gacula added.
As of July 29, seven new confirmed cases were recorded, including a 7-year old boy from Barangay Dolores who was exposed to a confirmed case in the same village.
Gacula said the family members of the seven latest COVID-19-positive patients, along with the rest of the 145 active cases, have been placed under strict home quarantine, and their neighborhoods under enhanced community quarantine.
Policemen were seen patrolling Taytay Public Market on Thursday to remind stall owners, tenants, and their customers of the strict implementation of the health protocols.
Decontamination activities at the municipal hall were conducted Thursday morning to ensure the safety of municipal hall employees, Gacula said.
President Duterte is set to make a public announcement this week on the status of the community quarantine that will be implemented after July 31.
