Laguna Provincial Hospital-Bay District Hospital limits operation after staff were exposed to COVID-19 cases

BAY, Laguna – The Laguna Provincial Hospital-Bay District Hospital (LPH-BDH) is limiting its operations after several of its health workers were exposed to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The hospital's Emergency Room (ER) will continue to operate, but patients will be referred to other hospitals once stabilized. The Outpatient Department (OPD), on the other hand, will be temporarily closed.

"We are very sorry to inform you that our hospital, LPH – Bay District Hospital will temporarily stop admitting patients because of two (2) confirmed positive COVID-19 cases based on RT-PCR wherein several of our staff were exposed," Chief of Hospital Dr. Ferdinand D. Galvez wrote in an announcement Monday, July 27.

Health workers who had been exposed to COVID-19 were tested for the virus and are now under quarantine.

The hospital will undergo compulsory disinfection as provided by the Department of Health guidelines.

The management will assess the situation over the next 14 days to determine when it is safe to return to normal operations.
