2 soldiers, cop test positive for COVID-19 in Davao de Oro


DAVAO CITY - The provincial government of Davao de Oro bared on Monday that a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and two members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have tested positive with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement, the provincial government said the three were residents of the province, but were deployed in other provinces. It said the police was a 23-year-old male who lived in Monkayo town in Davao de Oro.

The policeman underwent swab testing on July 21 in the province where he was assigned.

Meanwhile, the two members of the AFP underwent swab-testing twice.

The provincial government said one of the officers was from Mawab, and underwent the first swab test in the second week of July. The first test was negative, the provincial government said.

However, on the second test conducted on July 20, the AFP member was found positive for COVID-19 after the results came out on July 24.

"Naka-assign siya sa laing probinsya gawas sa Davao de Oro ug pipila na siya ka bulan wala kauli sa atong probinsya (The AFP personnel was assigned in a different province outside Davao de Oro and has never returned to the province for several months)," it added.

The other member of the AFP was a 31-year-old male was a resident of Montevista town. He also had a negative result after the first swab test was conducted during the second week of July.

However, four days after taking his second swab on July 20, he was found to be positive with COVID-19.
 
The three are the province's 78th, 79th, and 80th cases, respectively.

Davao de Oro currently has 51 active cases, 28 recoveries, and one fatality.
